Works alongside, not scored
Works alongside: ServiceNow CMDB
Bottom line
ServiceNow is not in our ranking. Its CMDB is the system of record where incident, change, problem and request work runs, and the asset inventory tools we rank feed it rather than replace it. Axonius reads ServiceNow CMDB tables as one source, compares them with what other tools report, and can create, update or remove ServiceNow assets.

Doesn't the ServiceNow CMDB already do this?
Partly. The ServiceNow CMDB is designed to be the single system of record for configuration items, populated by ServiceNow Discovery and by Service Graph Connectors. What it does not do on its own is compare its records with every security tool that also sees the same assets. A laptop can be in the CMDB with an owner and still be missing its EDR agent, or a cloud workload can exist in the AWS console and not in the CMDB at all. Finding those gaps means reading the EDR console, the identity provider, the cloud accounts and the CMDB together.
The practical test: when did your team last make a security decision from the CMDB without checking it against another source?
How does Axonius work with ServiceNow?
Axonius documents a ServiceNow adapter that fetches CMDB tables such as computers, virtual machines and printers for what it calls CMDB reconciliation and remediation. It also documents enforcement actions to create, update and disable or remove assets in ServiceNow. The usual pattern is: Axonius reconciles data from many tools, flags where the CMDB is incomplete or wrong, and pushes corrections or tickets into ServiceNow, where incident, change and request processes run.

Frequently asked questions
Does Axonius replace ServiceNow?
No. Axonius reads the ServiceNow CMDB as one source, compares it with other tools and can create or update ServiceNow assets. ServiceNow remains the system of record and workflow platform.
Can Axonius update the ServiceNow CMDB?
Yes. Axonius documents ServiceNow enforcement actions to create, update and disable or remove assets.
Why is ServiceNow not in the ranking?
It does a different job. The ranking compares tools that build and reconcile an asset inventory; the ServiceNow CMDB is the system of record those tools feed. Scoring it against them would compare a source of truth with the tools that keep it accurate.
